The Blue Room

The Blue Room is the most intimate and the most exclusive of Mister A’s four event spaces. Behind its own doors on the twelfth floor, a single long table sits beneath a crystal chandelier, framed by gilded mirrors and deep blue velvet. It is the one room where the whole party sits together at one table, and the only private room with its own quiet access to the outdoor patio.

What the room feels like

Where the rest of Mister A’s turns outward to the skyline, the Blue Room turns inward. There are no city views here, and that is the point: nothing competes with the table, the conversation or the toast. Warm light, ornate plasterwork and a single long table make it the natural choice for a gathering where everyone should be able to hear everyone else.

Presentations and toasts

The Blue Room is the only private space at Mister A’s with audio/visual capability, available for groups of up to 16 guests. That makes it the room for a board dinner with a short deck, a retirement tribute with a photo montage, or a family celebration with a slideshow. A/V rentals such as televisions and projectors are billed separately and do not count toward the food and beverage minimum.

Stepping outside

Guests have private access to the outdoor patio directly from the room, so a cocktail hour can begin above the city under the San Diego sky before everyone is seated inside for dinner.

The Blue Room FAQs

How many guests does the Blue Room hold?

The Blue Room seats up to 18 guests at a single long table. If your group is larger, the Rotunda seats up to 28 and the Downtown Room seats up to 42.

Can I show a presentation or slideshow in the Blue Room?

Yes. The Blue Room is the only private space at Mister A’s with audio/visual capability, available for groups of up to 16 guests. Please request A/V when you inquire so it can be arranged in advance.

Does the Blue Room have city views?

No. The Blue Room does not offer direct city views. It is an interior room designed for privacy and intimacy. It does have private access to Mister A’s outdoor patio, where the downtown and harbor views are at their best. For a private room with skyline views, consider the Rotunda or the Downtown Room.

Is there a food and beverage minimum for the Blue Room?

Yes. Private event spaces at Mister A’s carry a food and beverage minimum that varies by room, day of the week and time of year. A non-refundable deposit is required to hold the date and is credited toward your final bill. Contact the events team at events@asrestaurant.com for current minimums.

How long can we have the room?

Private spaces are typically reserved for three hours. If your event runs past the contracted end time, an additional fee per hour may be charged.

Do we have to order from a group menu?

Parties of 15 or more are required to select a plated 3-course group menu and cannot order from the regular à la carte menu. Menu and wine selections must be finalized no later than 15 days before the event.

What is the dress code?

For nearly 60 years, Mister A’s has enforced a dress code and does its best to honor this long held tradition in the current era. Modern dress code is “business casual.” Guests not in proper attire will be turned away. Please see our full dress code policy.
